When is Camp Inspire?
2 one week sessions in July Session 1: July 9-13 Session 2: July 16-20 Monday-Friday 8am-3pm What is Camp Inspire? Camp Inspire provides an arts based-environmental program for grades 3-4. Inspired by the Forest Schools of Germany and Denmark, children spend a majority of their time exploring on hiking trails and near the waterways of Dixie Plantation. At Camp Inspire, our campers create art as they learn about South Carolina history, science, engineering, and ELA. What is STEAM? STEAM is an acronym for science, technology, engineering, art, and math. By introducing the arts to the STEM subjects children can stretch and explore ideas that they find interesting as they learned to reach beyond their capacity, free to explore playfully and embrace the opportunity to learn from mistakes. Partnerships This year Engaging Creative Minds (ECM) will be partnering with the College of Charleston to provide a rich STEAM based experience for the children. For the second year in a row Arts Etc. (Kiawahartsetc.org) will be providing significant funding including scholarships for underserved children of Johns Island. Location Dixie Plantation College of Charleston's 984 acre located on the Stono River near Hollywood, SC |
